Our history

History

Linus Oakes Village began as a hope and dream of Sister Jacquetta Taylor, former President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center. Through the dedication and perseverance of Sister Jacquetta and many others, the first stage of building was completed in the fall of 1986.

On the day of dedication, Sister Jacquetta shared the Linus Oakes Pledge of Purpose:

“A place where the mature years are meant for productive living and for discovering new relationships and activities…designed to be a place of vigor and creativity – as well as a place of restful and rewarding leisure in a setting of beauty, comfort, and security.”

Through the years, we have continued to expand and grow, and the warm feeling of togetherness, family and community so apparent in 1986 continues to shine on Linus Oakes.

Whether you’re strolling through Woodstock Garden, or listening to the sounds of nature while standing on the Linus Links putting green, Linus Oakes Village is truly a unique setting for retirement living.
