Memory care

CHI Living Communities is prepared to nurture your loved ones’ special needs resulting from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss. Our specially trained staff works closely with residents, their physicians and families to provide compassionate care and maximize their quality of life.

We offer several unique, personalized approaches for Alzheimer’s and memory care, including A Positive Approach; It’s Never 2 Late ® (iN2L), and other nationally recognized programs.

Our memory care programs are offered in secured neighborhood settings, and residents have exclusive use of beautifully appointed private dining, living and activity areas. Our residents receive more intensive personal care and closer supervision by staff specialists 24-hours a day.

Memory care is a kind of specialized care that provides services and structured environments for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Levels of support can vary based on our residents’ needs, but memory care services typically include the following:

  • Rehabilitation (physical and occupational therapy)
  • Speech therapy
  • Memory-enhancing activities
  • Wound care
  • Health monitoring and maintenance
  • Assistance with activities of daily living

Who benefits from memory care?

Memory care is recommended for those who require specialized support on a day-to-day basis. This includes people living with later stages of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

Besides providing specialized services for residents, CHI Living Communities can provide a safe and stress-free environment for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia to receive support and care.

Specialized care - Needing help isn’t about restrictions. Our team has specialized training in providing care for those with various forms of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Safety features - Our locations are equipped with safety features like emergency call buttons, which allow residents to access our team at a moment’s notice. With 24/7 staff, you can feel secure knowing your loved one is in good hands.

Nutritious dining - We provide chef-prepared meals that delight the taste buds and benefit health. Residents meet in the community dining room and enjoy a delicious meal with friends or have it delivered to their room when visiting the dining room is not possible.

Transportation services - Need a ride to a favorite local grocery store? Some of our communities offer transportation services for residents, so they can visit all the spots they’ve always enjoyed.

How to know if memory care is the right choice for you or your loved one

When it comes to memory care, you want to know you’re making the right decision for your loved one. Determine your priorities—especially the non-negotiables—when looking for their new home. It is helpful to discuss every part of the decision-making process with someone close to you.

When is the right time for memory care?

Those who are thinking of choosing memory care should consider the following factors:

  • Are you beyond your capabilities in caring for your loved one?
  • Would the structure of a memory care community be helpful for you or your loved one?
  • Do you or your loved one require specialized services and assistance with day-to-day activities?

At the end of the day, this decision is up to you. Take the next step with the peace of mind that comes with a lifestyle free of maintenance and worry.
