Giving

“For it is in giving that we receive.” – St. Francis of Assisi

CHI Living Communities has provided long and short-term care to residents and their families with a focus on the core values of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence for many years. With the philanthropic support of donors, we are able to extend that excellent care at St. Clare Commons and support initiatives that might not otherwise be available.

As a 501 (c)(3) organization, St. Clare Commons has made the commitment to provide the highest level of physical and spiritual care to area residents for as long as they need us, even if they have outlived their resources. Your charitable gifts will help support residents on our campus who may require financial assistance. So you can see why your support is so important to our mission.

To continue to enhance our mission, we accept donations from individuals, corporations, and organizations who have an interest in seeing us continue our service to the residents, their families and the greater community. Contributions to St. Clare Commons may be sent us at:

12469 Five Point Road
Perrysburg, Ohio 43551

Besides outright cash gifts, there are many other ways to give to St. Clare Commons:

Ways To Give

Cash

The most popular and easiest way to make a gift is by cash or check. When paying by check, please make check payable to St. Clare Commons.

Securities

Ownership of stocks and/or bonds can be transferred to St. Clare Commons as a charitable gift. The value of your gift depends upon the market price of these assets when they are given. You may be entitled to a significant charitable deduction on your income tax return for a gift of appreciated securities.

Planned Gifts

Making a planned gift to St. Clare Commons is a great way to ensure income for you and your beneficiary, achieve tax benefits and help make certain that quality care is available to our residents and their families for the future. Some examples of planned gifts include:

  • Bequest – Making a provision in your will or living trust of a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate will benefit St. Clare Commons. A charitable bequest allows you to keep control of your assets during your lifetime and make a gift to St. Clare Commons at the same time while receiving a reduction in estate taxes. To ensure compliance with your wishes and to receive current recognition for your bequest gift, it is important to document your gift with us.
  • Life Insurance – A gift of life insurance often allows you to provide a more substantial gift in the future than you might think possible. St. Clare Commons can be named as the beneficiary of a paid-up/existing policy or a newly purchased policy. You receive a charitable deduction for the cash value of the policy and a deduction for the premiums going forward.
  • Retirement Plan Assets – IRAs, 401(k)s and other retirement benefits can be one of the most efficient forms of planned giving. By naming St. Clare Commons as a beneficiary for a percentage or specified amount of the account, estate and income taxes on that gift can be avoided entirely.
  • Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, Annuity Trusts and Retained Life Estates – These are also mutually beneficial options for supporting the organization and achieving tax benefits. Please contact your tax advisor for more information.

Gifts in Kind

St. Clare Commons strives to create the most comfortable homelike atmosphere possible. This includes the quality and attractiveness of furnishings, equipment and accessories for parties and other activities, as well as items that improve the quality of resident life or the effectiveness of the staff.

Investment Opportunities

Unrestricted Support

These valuable gifts will allow St. Clare Commons to maximize their impact on the residents we serve. Unrestricted gifts are applied to the most pressing needs of St. Clare Commons in fulfilling its mission.

Designated Gifts

These are gifts made to St. Clare Commons which are designated by the donor at the time the gift is made. Gifts can be made to support specific program such as the following:

  • Benevolent Care Fund
  • Chapel Fund
  • Recreation Activities
  • Capital Improvements

Memorial/Honorary Gift

Memorial and honorary gifts are a significant and meaningful way to recognize the importance of someone special. Donors may make these types of contributions to St. Clare Commons by noting such at the time the gift is made. A note will be sent to the honoree or to the family acknowledging the gift on behalf of the donor. Gift amounts are kept confidential.

If you have an interest in donating to help support our mission or would like to be added to our mailing list, please contact us at 419-931-0050.

Your gift will be important to those who will call St. Clare Commons home… and to their families. Your gift gives peace. Your gift provides loving care.

As always, before making financial decisions, please consult a qualified financial advisor to ensure that the gift you are considering is right for you.

Volunteer

Rewarding. Satisfying. Meaningful.

There is no better feeling than the satisfaction that comes with volunteering your time, knowing that you touched someone’s life.

At St. Clare Commons, we offer volunteers an added benefit: the collective wisdom, experiences and love of our residents. These are people who have lived life to its fullest, and they have so much to share. So when you volunteer your time – even if it’s a few hours a month – you’ll get something in return – an unforgettable, rewarding experience that will stay with you through your entire life.

St. Clare volunteers support the staff in providing the highest quality of life for the residents. So we’ll find responsibilities for you that best serve your interests and our needs. But our program will also work to ensure that the experience is rewarding for you as well. We want to provide opportunities for your personal growth, skill development, and meaningful service. Special skills and talents are always welcome (and needed), but the only thing that’s truly required is the ability to smile and laugh. It’s what makes St. Clare Commons home.

The following are some volunteer opportunities we offer that may interest you.

  • Group activity assistance
  • Fundraising projects
  • Craft helper
  • Dining assistance
  • Administrative work such as filing and general office needs
  • Volunteer reader
  • Companion/visitor
