We give Madonna Manor and staff 5 Stars, and our appreciation and gratitude for their care of our family member.

Our family member went into Madonna Manor in November expecting a short-term respite care stay during his treatment for a head and neck cancer. One of the first hurdles we faced finding his care was the fact that he had a recently placed trach, (for those unaware, in the state of Kentucky most care facilities are not willing to take patients with a newly placed trach) after countless calls to facilities in Kentucky and visits to some that would accept us in Ohio, we struck gold with Madonna Manor. From the very start Admissions and the Director of Nursing understood completely the challenges that we were facing and assured us that the staff at Madonna Manor was perfectly willing and capable of meeting our needs. We were happy to have a solution closer to home and the move from Drake Center took place just before Thanksgiving. Several weeks after his admission the treatment started a series of significant "bumps in the road” began. With each new bump the nursing staff on Household A rose to the occasion. They dealt with what seemed like an ever-changing list of health concerns and the need for an escalation in the level of care that was required without missing a beat!

Throughout the stay when he was able, and therapies were prescribed, the PT and speech staff also exceeded expectations in their level of care and patience with our family member. Their concern in his recovery and their encouragement in the progress that he made also played a key role in his success.

In addition to the exceptional level therapy and nursing care, the administrative team was always willing to assist our efforts to understand the Medicare claims and the routine “appeals” processes. There was a genuine desire to see that our family member received all of the benefits that he was entitled to. Their assistance resulted in getting benefits that would have otherwise been denied on numerous occasions.

Finally, as if all of this was not enough, Madonna Manors supporting staff members were also incredible. The aides were always polite and helped in assisting with basic needs. The housekeeping staff deserves a huge pat on the back, they do and amazing job and are always upbeat and friendly. Madonna Manor is without a doubt the cleanest facility that we looked at, and also happens to be the cleanest care facility that I’ve personally ever visited. Last but certainly not least, the kitchen staff should also be recognized. While our family member was unable to enjoy the food for the majority of his stay I can tell you that we witnessed other residents enjoy great looking meals served by a dedicated staff every day.

Seven months later, after all of the hurdles and treatments our family member has walked out the doors of Madonna Manor to return home. We can say with all confidence that had it not been for the care he received at Madonna Manor, his recovery would not have been as successful.

5 Stars for sure!

Thank you all,
Family of RS
